How often do I need to service my car?
A general rule of thumb is that you should get your car serviced every 10,000 km or 6 months - whichever one comes first. A major service - or a more extensive look over your vehicle - is required every 30,000 to 45,000km or every 24 months. The interval required for a service will depend on your vehicles make and model.
Whether new or used, your car should have come with an owner’s manual that sets out scheduled services and required maintenance work at each service.
Why do I need to service my car?
Following the maintenance schedule is imperative to keep your car in good condition and to avoid breakdowns or expensive repairs.
Whether you have purchased your vehicle New or Used, if it still has manufacturer warranty remaining, then having your car serviced at the correct intervals will ensure it remains intact.
Is a Logbook Service the same as a minor service?
A logbook service includes the specific checks and repairs set out by the car manufacturer in your owner’s manual. That means it’s specific to your make & model. Logbook servicing shows future buyers that you’ve kept up with your car’s needs when you eventually sell your vehicle.
A minor service includes a detailed safety inspection and diagnostic checks, oil & oil filter change. This can be performed with a logbook service, but can also be done as a stand alone service to ensure your car is in safe working condition and to identify any potential problems before they cause serious/ costly damage to your vehicle.
